An early coaching scene with coachmen and well-dressed passengers riding on the open top. The coach and its four horses may be coming to rest at an entrance to a fine house. A pair of masonry piers frame the entrance. There is a boy at the side of the road bending over to get sight of the horses. A peacock appears to be watching the coach. The architectural details are finely depicted. These types of coaching scenes were essential for the artist to make a living in the early 1900s.
