This view of the Thames and the Houses of Parliament would have been painted soon after the artist’s move to London in 1900. Westminster Bridge divides the picture horizontally and beyond the picture become hazy – perhaps with smog. The barges on the slow moving Thames give a sense of movement which is further enhanced by the birds in flight.
