The Gardener's Cottage on the Haddon estate is constructed in masonry with stone mullion windows, dressed stone quoins, copings, buttress and chimney. The roof is covered in stone slates. Clearly, this is a high-end build which attracted the attention of Knighton-Hammond. He captures the architectural features of the local vernacular cottage which are embellished by the colourful pot plants placed against the façade. Located in a wooded area was painted around the time Knighton-Hammond was living and working in the Youlgrave area c1906.
