This early watercolour dating from the early 1900s has the gathering of the hunt with mounted Huntsmen, support riders and hounds by a historic thatched building. The composition is focused on the interaction of the figures and the quickly applied brushstrokes give the painterly illusion of movement and spontaneity. It is likely, however, that this watercolour was produced on the kitchen table as opposed to on the spot.
