The Passing Storm is an extensive landscape with a meandering stream in the foreground and cattle grazing in the fields and buildings and trees on the horizon. The cloud study shows the passing rain clouds followed by blue skies. With a few simple colours Knighton-Hammond creates aerial perspective giving the compostion depth. The artist uses the passing storm to create a very atmospheric picture. He was always accomplished at representing transient weather effects.
