Knighton-Hammond has made this display of roses less formal by the removal of one of the stems and placing it on the table. The flower heads have been described in watercolour with a profusion of brushstrokes. The green foliage enhances the colour of the pink roses. The background projects the flowers forward onto the table. The picture was exhibited at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1952 (No. 284).
