An etched study of heads consisting of a self-portrait of the artist and his son, John. Knighton-Hammond would have sketched the studies directly into the waxed etching plate with his needle. He experiments with the direction of the light and shadow to model the heads. He demonstrates his confident draughtsmanship and achieves a good likeness with simple lines.
