This early oil painting of the entrance porch of All saints’ Church, Evesham would date from the early 1900s. The artist enjoyed depicting architecture from early in his career and there is a maturity in his grasp of linear perspective. He uses daubs of thickly applied pigment with accents of light and shadow to convincingly portray the historic building and the trees beyond to engage the spectator’s interest in the composition.
