This early etching has two cattle grazing in a field with trees in the foreground. As the picture recedes the artist has used the hedges running across the picture plane to give aerial perspective running into the hills in the far background. The trees also provide diminishing scale. The etching plate has not been over worked giving the minimum ink to describe the scene.
