The Church of San Matteo in Laigueglia, Italy is superbly depicted in bright sunshine and part shadow. The church towers are silhouetted against the rich blue sky. The foreground foliage is in deep green from the shadow being cast by the adjacent tree. This picture is Knighton-Hammond at his Impressionistic best using light and colour. There is a luminosity and freshness to the work.
