This busy market is full of hustle and bustle and were seen by Knighton-Hammond to be celebrations of urban life. The buildings surrounding the market have been atmospherically depicted with colour wash with little attention to detail. Instead, the artist has concentrated on the spontaneity of the figures outlined in watercolour at lightning speed and later filled in with the relevant colour which he would have made a note of.
