A landscape in the Derbyshire Dales was an early work of Knighton-Hammond who often made trips to the dales near Haddon Hall. A tranquil scene with a few sheep by some trees close to the river's edge. The river is spanned by a single arched bridge. There is a church beyond. The field in the foreground is naturally green in colour with the hills in the background being a blue/purple which is the colour created by the distance - the atmospheric colour.
