This group of children would have been painted a great speed. There is an immediate feeling of human presence with each child having their own characteristics. With very little detailing each child would be recognisable. It would appear Knighton-Hammond sketched the outlines of the figure in a sepia wash before adding the facial features and clothing. A fun picture full of characters.
