Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, more commonly known as I Gesuiti, in Venice has a Baroque facade overlooking the Lagoon. A watercolour of great freedom yet great accuracy. The artist gives an impression of the architecture of the church and the buildings running beyond creating perspective and the scene is easily recognisable. The busy figures give an indication of the scale of the building and create great movement and fluidity. The water in the Lagoon reflects the buildings and boats to good effect.
