This Autumn landscape has tree branches in the foreground with a sawing horse ready to reduce them to logs. As the picture recedes beyond the large, dominant tree there are a multiplicity of planes making up the fields which are divided by a fence running across the picture plane. The row of trees adds further division and the distance is marked out with strong, atmospheric blue which contrasts with the pale blue sky. There are buildings to the left in the mid-ground area. This would have been a very speedy watercolour with Knighton-Hammond freely drawing directly with the brush.
