Lover’s Leap, Buxton is Ashwood Dale and is a canyon formed by cliffs. The artist has set up at the base of the canyon to gain the full effects of the imposing cliffs on either side. The bed rocks run into the distance where the atmospheric colours take over. There is a freshness in the light-green foliage and a freshness from the light entering the deep canyon. There is an air of tranquillity about the composition.
