A striking and colourful portrait of a young woman looking thoughtfully into space and towards the light source. There is a fresh expression in the modelling of the face. The golden locks capture the light and the clothing depicted in oil paint has texture and vibrance. One has the feeling that Knighton-Hammond had in his mind when painting this portrait Botticelli’s portrayal of Simonetta Vespucci, the image used by the artist in his Birth of Venus and Primavera. As always K-H captures the character of the sitter. Whilst the portrait is unsigned there is no doubt this is the work of Knighton-Hammond and has also been certified as such in an inscription verso by the artist's daughter.
