This watercolour was carried out early in Knighton-Hammond’s career and shows an excitement for the natural phenomena. Painted methodically it represented what was before him in the landscape. The elements are painted in a very correct manner as his style was developing. Within a decade or so he would be under the influence of Adolphe Valette which brought about significant development for his future career.
