A Sussex Woodland is an etching with limited subject matter – just trees. The trees in the foreground have exposed roots giving a feeling of the power of nature. Going into the picture there is a disposition of space between the trees and also the hatching indicates light and shade on the trunks whilst giving the sense of roundness and solidity.
