Knighton-Hammond focuses on the inglenook fireplace probably in his home in either Misterton or Seaborough. Within the fireplace recess are the fire dogs which support the logs and the intricate cast iron fire back. To the side of the fireplace is part of a smoker’s chair. This everyday household feature has been cleverly elevated into an art form. Knighton-Hammond could see artistic beauty and amply compositional strength in some quite mundane subjects and brings them to life in a very colourful way.
