The Oak Tree is dominant in a Shropshire landscape. The use of watercolour is less transparent than we normally expect from Knighton-Hammond. There is a strength and depth in the colour palette and the range and tones used to give depth to the composition. The two figures walking into the landscape towards the gate create movement.
