The Royal Exchange in Manchester appears to be undergoing building works with scaffolding and cranes in place. There is a workman going about his work on the roof of the portico and there are horses and carts in the street. The building is well observed with regards to perspective and this is continued in the streetscape. Knighton-Hammond was to use this watercolour from which to produce an etching.
