A scene of The Village in Prestbury probably carried out when on a painting trip from Manchester Municipal School of Art c1911. The Art Master, Adolphe Valette would take his students out to the picturesque Cheshire village of Prestbury to paint outdoors very much in the way of the Impressionists. The cottages in street scene of The Village are well depicted giving an immediate appreciation of the architecture in the facades. The perspective draws the spectator’s eye down the street. The figures give scale and give a sense of movement.
