Knighton-Hammond has conjured the atmosphere of the harbour at West Bay from fine, misty colour washes and the changing effects of the sky which he would not have considered merely a background such was the importance he placed on this light source. The harbour is silhouetted against the sea and sky. The two figures walking along the seafront give a sense of scale and movement to the composition.
